Yes, for a limited number of selected athletes. Kindly inform us at least three weeks before race day.
Event organizers are working with the city authorities, including the Department of Public Health, to provide a safe and enjoyable race weekend experience for all event attendees. Event guidance and/or requirements will be in line with local and state coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines. The event will provide specific guidelines to registered participants in the lead up to race weekend.
It is best to follow an appropriate training program, based on your current fitness level and goals. While there are numerous training programs online, our technical team has also provided various training schedules for various grades of runners. Click here to access our training plans.
The 2025 Absa Black Star Marathon is set to attract between 5000 and 10,000 runners from numerous countries.
You should inform us immediately, if for any reason you are unable to participate after registration. if you do so, while your fee will not be refunded, you will be permitted to have a guaranteed entry for next years event by applying in the required manner.
Yes. All participants are required to pick up their own participant packet (bib number and timing device etc) during the scheduled hours of operation at designated points that will be announced. You will be required to produce an unexpired government-issued photo ID and evidence of registration.
Yes. Private lactation spaces will be available for registered postpartum participants during race weekend. Participants are asked to indicate their interest in using a private lactation space by emailing admin@blackstarmarathon.com at least one month in advance of the event. If such advance notice is not possible, please notify us as soon as practicable. Additional information about private lactation spaces will be made available on the event website before the event.
