
Black Marathon organizers have announced attractive prizes for participants who will excel as well as finishers in a competition scheduled for Accra in July.
According to the organizers, the forthcoming event code-named – 2024 Black Star Marathon prizes are subject to improvement.
The novelty race (42.2km for men and women, wheelchair categories, and a 10 km mass run/jog/walk) scheduled for July 27 at the Independence Square in Accra is expected to attract some 10,000 runners from across the globe.
According to organizers of the event Runathon Ghana Foundation, at stake are attractive cash prizes, certificates, and medals for participants who will distinguish themselves and for finishers.
Also at stake for Ghana’s premier marathon are special cash prizes for the oldest man and woman finishers, youngest boy and girl.
Founder of Black Star Marathon Dr. Eric Kwame Adae said in an interview, “This is the big one! This year’s race boasts incredible prizes that will push your limits and fuel your victory dance. Now you know which race is worth your time and running shoes. ”

The event has received massive support by way of sponsorship from Accra City Hotel, Hollard Insurance and Life, American Pacific Mortgage, Win-some Group, Sunseekers, Vital Wellness, Chocolate Clothing, Cacao, Runathon Globa, among others.
Its strategic partners include Drake Relays, Ego Tickets, The Trust Hospital, and the Ghana Athletics Association.
According to the organizers, the prizes are tentative and likely to go up as the date for the D-day draws close.
The Black Star Marathon seeks to unite Black people around the world with the entire human race through the joy of running. No matter their reason for running, the Black Star Marathon aims to be a rewarding experience that helps athletes of all skill levels reach their fullest potential.
